How does a friction tyre differ from a studded tyre?

A friction tyre has no studs — grip comes from the rubber compound and a dense lamella pattern. It's quieter and legal year-round.

What is the 3PMSF mark?

A three-peak-mountain-snowflake mark on the tyre's sidewall. It means the tyre has passed a snow traction test. M+S alone is the manufacturer's own marking, without a test.

Can a friction tyre be used in summer?

Yes — a friction tyre is legal year-round. However, a winter compound wears faster in the heat.

What wet grip class should I expect from a friction tyre?

A winter compound usually gives a lower wet grip class than a summer tyre. The class is shown on every tyre and you can filter by it.
