Nokian Tyres is a Finnish tyre maker whose roots go back to 1898 and which, by its own account, launched the world's first winter tyre in 1934. Nordkit stocks Nokian studded and Nordic friction tyres for cars and SUVs from R14 to R22 — chiefly the Hakkapeliitta line.

Nokian tyres: Hakkapeliitta for a Nordic winter
Nokian Tyres' predecessor Suomen Gummitehdas was founded in 1898 and the headquarters have been in the town of Nokia, Finland since 1972; the listed company Nokian Tyres was born in 1995. By its own account the maker produced the world's first winter tyre in 1934. Plants are in Nokia, Finland, Oradea, Romania and Dayton, USA.
Nordkit's Nokian range is mainly Hakkapeliitta winter tyres: the studded Hakkapeliitta 10, 10 SUV and 10 EV, Hakkapeliitta 9 and 9 SUV, the newer Hakkapeliitta 01 and Hakkapeliitta LT3 for pick-ups. What is the difference between Hakkapeliitta 10 and R5?
Hakkapeliitta 10 is a studded tyre, R5 a stud-free friction tyre. Both are for a Nordic winter; the studded tyre is surer on ice, the friction tyre quieter and allowed where studs are not.
Is Nokian WR suitable for an Estonian winter?
WR D4 and WR SUV 4 are Central-European winter tyres with the 3PMSF mark, suited to maintained roads. For icy roads Hakkapeliitta is the better choice.
