The first load index applies to single fitment and the second to dual-wheel fitment. Choose at least the rating required by the vehicle.

C tyre or XL tyre?

XL is a reinforced passenger-car tyre; C is designed for commercial vehicles. XL is not an automatic substitute for a C tyre.

Does a van need C tyres?

Use the size and load capacity specified by the vehicle manufacturer. If the documents or current tyre specify C, do not replace it with a lower-capacity passenger-car tyre.

Can an XL tyre replace a C tyre?

Not automatically. XL and C describe different constructions. A substitute is suitable only when its size, load rating, speed rating and manufacturer approval all meet the vehicle requirements.

Why does a van tyre have two load indices?
